The right bridal jewelry set highlights both the wearer and the dress. So, to find the perfect match, the bride should take into consideration the style of the dress and how it can be complemented the best.
Here are a few great jewelry options for six of the most common styles of dress neckline and bodice.
Asymmetrical Dress. An asymmetrical neckline goes over one shoulder but is lower on the other. This style doesn't lend itself to most necklaces, as these throw off the asymmetry. Instead, highlight other jewelry, including statement earrings and a gorgeous bracelet.
Halter Top. Halter top styles go well with traditional pendant necklaces that make beautiful statements but are still simple. Chokers may not be the best choice, as they can make the collar area seem too busy. Long, draping chains hanging in the back could work, depending on how complex the back line of the dress is.
Sweetheart Neckline. The sweetheart neckline forms a loose heart shape along the bodice. It pairs perfectly with a "Y" shape pendant or necklace style. Bold drop earrings are another way to complement this low neckline, particularly if the bride wears her hair up.
Square Bodice. A modern, square neckline is a simple style, but it may not pair well with large or curvy necklaces. Shorter necklaces and chokers, on the other hand, provide great contrast. If you opt for a statement choker, look for one or two bracelets that will match to create a stunning set.
Open Back. The open back dress is a popular style for many brides. These beautiful and romantic dresses are perfect for what is commonly known as a 'lariat' style necklace. Lariat necklaces feature a pendant or chain design on the front, but the necklace drapes down the back of the wearer as well. This creates drama and interest that highlights the open back. Match a lariat style necklace with long and delicate earrings or bracelets.
High Neckline. If you're more interested in a high-necked bodice, the dress will determine whether or not to add a necklace. Busy, embroidered or crystal-decked bodices might not have room for a necklace, but simple ones will benefit from a statement piece. Either way, use fun or romantic earrings to complete the look.
When you find the right jewelry set to maximize the effect of your bridal dress, the result will be stunning. No matter what style you choose, the right jewelry is out there, and it will make you feel like the princess you are.
